246 Field Update

Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to address a bug in the indicator positions for field 246. The backslash for indicator position 2 has been replaced with a space, following feedback received that the backslash had created conflicts when uploaded to a library system. These changes apply to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

The 490 and 830 fields for Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated, now with correct punctuation ' ;' inserted between subfields. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

The 250 field for Cambridge University Press MARC records, including the edition statement in subfield a, have been reinstated. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

245 Field Update

Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to address indicator and punctuation issues with field 245. For records including an author in the 100 field, the first indicator for field 245 is output as a '1'. Furthermore, full-stops appearing before subfield $c have also been removed. These changes apply to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

RDA Standard

Cambridge University Press MARC records have now been updated according to the RDA (Resource Description and Access) Standard. As part of this update, the following amendments have been applied:

- Addition of field 336 (Content Type), field 337 (Media Type), and field 338 (Carrier Type).

- The 260 field (Publication, Distribution, etc. (Imprint)) has been replaced with the 264 field (Production, Publication, Distribution, Manufacture, and Copyright Notice)

- The main author is included within a non-repeatable 100 field, with additional contributors detailed in field 700

- Subfield h “[electronic resource]” has been removed from the Title Statement in field 245

These changes apply to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

Punctuation Updates

Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to correct punctuation errors:

- The 264 field (previously 260) now ends with a full-stop

- Fields 100 and 700 no longer include a double full-stop for contributors with an initial in the name

- Field 500 has been updated to include an apostrophe in text “publisher’s”

These changes apply to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

830 Field Update

Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to include an 830 field where applicable. This is in order to provide a Series title for records where a 490 field is also present. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

246 Field Update

Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to include a 246 field where applicable. This is in order to provide an alternative form of a title, for example including titles with an ampersand “&” as an alternative to “and”. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

530 Field Update

The 530 field has now been removed from Cambridge University Press MARC records. This was previously populated with “$aAlso issued in print format.” We had received feedback from libraries that this field was no longer required, as we have included print ISBNs in the 020 field. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

538 Field Update

The 538 field has now been removed from Cambridge University Press MARC records. This was previously populated with “$aMode of access: World Wide Web.” We had received feedback from libraries that this field was no longer required. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

OCLC Sample MARC Records

A sample of 5 MARC records from OCLC are now accessible via the 'Retrieve MARC Records' page on CBO. This enables librarians and cataloguers to view an example of the high quality MARC records available from our supplier OCLC, which are available via OCLC services. Free Cambridge University Press in-house MARC records continue to be available for CBO, CCO, CHO, SSO and UPO.

The 650 field for Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to correct the field indicators to '\7' for instances where BISAC subject coding has been included. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

The 245 field for Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to correct a HTML coding issue. Instances where and codes were included have now been removed. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

The 650 field for Cambridge University Press MARC records have been updated to correct a character encoding issue. The 650 field now includes foreign characters. This change applies to MARC records across University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online and Shakespeare Survey Online.

MARC records for University Publishing Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, Cambridge Histories Online, and Shakespeare Survey Online have been updated to include additional data for multi-part books in field 245, where relevant: the part number now appears in subfield n, and the part title now appears in subfield p.
